Filipino Guitar Player: Jack Rufo
June 20, 2008
Hey guys check this out, he is one hell of a guitar player from the Philippines, his name is Jack Rufo
Jack Rufo is the one responsible of the guitar playing (the lead guitars) in Kitchie Nadal’s song such as Wag na Wag and Bulong. So that’s why he sounds famiiar because I had already heard him play (for atleast in cd).
He had this single guitar playing that was released just some few weeks here in the Philippines, it was a compilation of different guitar players in the Philippines and Jack Rufo is one of them. The name of that album is “Mga Gitarista” (The Guitar Players), the Name of that song is “Aratig” Track No. 8, Composed and Arranged by him.
Well try to listen to his music by login in this site: http://www.imeem.com/alumbayarband/music/SQegMfg8/jack_rufo_jack_rufo_aratig/ ….(audio only) or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv85CnfX1C4 (full music video), or try to type the keyword “Jack Rufo” on the same site.
For sure you’ll like it folks, coz I’ll still have to watch it one again and try it on my guitars
Long Live Rock N’ Roll!!!
Basic Guitar Chords: Major, Minor and Seven’s
June 16, 2008My guitar wants to kill your mamaMy guitar wants to kill your mamaMy guitar wants to burn your dad
I get real mean when it makes me mad… as the lyrics stated on the song of Frank Zappa’s - My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama.
If you heard the version of this song that was played by guitar masters like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani during their G3 Tour, it was one hell of a showdown of guitar slashing. To those who wasn’t able to hear or watch this one, better get… the Necrologist got his copy of the song from Limewire.. Thanks much to limewire for making our life easy us music lovers.
A lot of us wish we could guitar play this kind of music, the speed, the combination of notes and licks and the flavor of the riff. This is not actually impossible because most of these masters had started in basics.
What are the guitar basics?
You can start it by learning the basic chords:
Major Chords are the following:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
if you’ll going to read the A, it would be as A or just A major.
Wait, sometimes, these chords can be express in this way…
AM, BM, CM, DM, EM, FM, GM
The Minor Chords are the following:
Am, Bm, Cm, Dm, Em, Fm and Gm
if you’ll going to read the Am, it would be A minor.
So therefore if it would be a major chord, it represents a capitla letter “M ” while if it is in minor chord, it would be represented in small letter ‘m”
The Major 7’s Chords are the following:
A7, B7, C7, D7, E7, F7, G7
if you’ll going to read the A, it would be as A seven.
These chords had a bit of higher tone but still it belongs to Major chord
The Minor 7’s Chords are the following:
Am7, Bm7, Cm7, Dm7, Em7, Fm7, Gm7
if you’ll going to read the Am7, it would be as A minor seven.
So for the meantime that would only be it, the next time I’ll show to you how does it looks like when you are going to apply it with your guitar.
Till next time folks.

Long Live Rock N’ Roll as the lyric say on the song of Steel Dragon’s Song Long Live Rock n’ Roll. The riff of Zack Wylde that’s so wild and the roaring vocals of
Trying to reminice the 80’s, that was Van Halen heh songs like Jump and Girl You Really Got Me and a lot more bands tryin to survive the battle in music world.
During these times, this was the time MJ (not Michael Jordan) the other MJ, the MJ of music, its Michael Jackson laid down its version of music.. The Pop music. EVen though it is Pop music, they have the idea of blending it with some rock music licks.
I am pointing to the “Beat It Music” well some of MJ’s music has rock licks just like the “Black or White”… but this Beat It had caught my attention. As I can remember clearly, one part of the song has a guitar solo… Most music fanatics knew this, I was actually told this by my Guitar Instructor (Evil Muffin) that the one who did the guitart solo on Beat It was The Great and My Idol in guitar Playing.. “STEVE VAI” Hail! Hail! Hail! For the Love of God… that’s one of his Master Piece. Guess what, he didn’t charge financially MJ for playing this guitar solo that was part of Beat It for Steve VAi thought that it was just another typical song of MJ but because it is MJ, the song became popular and became hit.
Since it was a hit, it became favorite to many until now…..
Recently, while havin my diner, I overheard this Beat It on the television that was tunes to a music channel. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 seconds as I listen to it… Hey that’s not the original one, it was revived. I halt on my deed and face the television… Hey it was indeed revived by this so called “Fall Out Boys.” Hey, nice blend of disturtion in there until then as I await for the moment I had been waiting for, the guitar solo…
Wrooooong!, drooiiing!, toiiiiiink!!! Hey what the hell was that, Oh me God!!! They murdered the great solo… I am not a professional guitar player but I know if it is for real or just wanna be or just … Ahhhhhh Hell!!! My Lord Steve Vai, would you allow such blasphemy on your master piece? Remember the revival of Smooth Criminal? that was actually nice, but this revival of Beat It.. naahhh! never mind.
Please Don’t Do It Again!!!
